Help make a difference in the life of an at-risk youth.

McCrossan Boys Ranch always strives to make the Ranch a better place to live. By doing this, the Ranch is always in need of funding. Constant maintenance of the Ranch and its programs takes money and by being a non-profit organization we rely on our generous donors to help us so we can continue providing “New Hope for a Better Life.”

There are many different ways you can donate to the Ranch. The Ranch also has several funds to pick from including:

General Fund: This money is unrestricted and is transferred to the McCrossan Foundation. The Board invests the money and decides on the best uses for it. Generally, it is used for program support.

Annual Fund: This money is for operational support only– it helps us maintain the campus and provide high quality programming at the Ranch. This is often known as the Believe. Hope. Change Campaign. It helps us meet our many needs such as – health, education, recreation, and counseling.

Endowment Fund: These donations are restricted to help grow the Ranch’s endowment – money that is invested for the future of McCrossan Boys Ranch. The money is overseen by the McCrossan Foundation Board.

Chaplain Fund: This fund supports the Chaplain program at McCrossan Boys Ranch. The Ranch employs one part-time chaplain from this fund. It also helps provide funding for religious activities, movies, books and more. On occasion it is used to help with our Sunday evening worship services.

Sponsor A Child Fund: This fund is new in 2008. Its purpose is to provide support for boys who need help and are not in the system and have no funding – so no boy in need of help is turned away.

Evening Treatment Program: This fund supports the new evening treatment after-school program at the Ranch for local Sioux Falls youth. At-risk youth ages 10-18 (boys and girls) are transported to the ranch for a structured treatment/therapy time after school to prevent them from being placed in out of home care. The program is operated year round from 3:00-8:00 p.m.

Memorials: These are donations made in memory or honor of someone special. The Ranch sends cards notifying the families that a donation has been make in their memory/honor. Funds from memorials are unrestricted and are transferred to the McCrossan Foundation to be used as best determined.

Recreational Activities: The Ranch tries to fund many recreational trips for the boys each year. The boys get to go on trips to the Black Hills, Valley Fair, the Omaha Zoo, and much more. This fund also helps provide recreational supplies like sporting equipment, new board games and many other recreational items.

Hitch Fund: This fund supports our horse equine therapy and hitch programs. It helps cover livestock expenses for trips, 4H and much more.

Christmas: Our Christmas fund helps make the holidays a special time at the Ranch. Money from this fund is used for holiday activities, Christmas presents, a special dinner for the boys and much more.

Scholarship/Education Fund: This fund helps the Ranch provide scholarships and pay for educational expenses for those boys going on to higher education. The boys apply for the scholarships through the McCrossan Board of Directors. Recently, funding was provided for tuition, book expenses, computers and tools for a vocational program.

Some people choose to leave McCrossan Boys Ranch in their Will. If you already have a Will, it is generally possible to add a bequest that will assist the boys without preparing a new will. Through a short separate document (known as a “cocidal”), you can include McCrossan Boys Ranch as a beneficiary by using this language:

“I bequeath to McCrossan Boys Ranch, a non-for-profit organization, the sum of $________ to be used exclusively for the care of ranch boys. The bequest will not be used for administrative or fundraising expenses.”

If you have already placed McCrossan Boys Ranch in your Will we would love to know so we can add you to our prestigious Melinda B. McCrossan Society.

If you are one of those people who find great rewards in helping others help themselves and would like to donate please contact the Ranch at (605) 339-1203 and ask to speak to someone in the Development Department. Or you can send your donations to:
